Last night the Yankees played the Royals for the second time in the playoff game series and lost.
Epically.
Rodon started off strong, and it reminded me of when you start to really like a guy, your emotions are high and so are your standards for him. Then you get to know him, and reality sits in. For New York, it was when Salvador Perez walked on the scene.
The 4th inning was the beginning of their demise as Salvador hit a home run, while Rodon just shook his head, watching the ball leave the park.
“He’s built for this,” said his teammate Cole Ragans, “he knows what it takes.”
Oddly enough, Rodon didn’t know what it took until after the game saying “trust the pitch and attack was the mindset I wish I had.”
There’s still more to come, but I believe emotions have to be kept in check.
