Bryce Harper is out for blood & that six figure bonus check. The now 31 year old made his wishes come true the other night with hitting a homerun on his birthday during a playoff game. “That’s always been a dream of mine, to play on my birthday”, he said. As he touched home plate he blew out imaginary candles with his fingers for added measure.
The Phillies system is simple, don’t let any good pitch go past you. That’s exactly what Harper did, first good pitch he saw up at bat on his birthday , he connected & the crowd went crazy.
So, what gives? What have they been doing to beat a team that has won 100+ games? Part of it is their competitive nature, just look at Harper’s interview during the Braves series..they didn’t come just to say they did it, they want that world series ring.
Rightfully so, the Phillies favorability to win the whole thing is gaining traction. Its hard not to take notice of a team that has already broken a record in the playoff series they had 15 homeruns over the course of merely 4 games. Their mantra swing less, put the ball in play has turned into scoring.
It’s Bryce Harper’s world we’re just living in it. His pure gratitude might be the cause, he says he’s just so thankful to play this game.
